TUSTIN, CA – The Tustin Dream Dinners team came together with Living the Dream Foundation to host the community’s first Fight Against Hunger meal packaging event last month. More than 200 volunteers, which included staff, families, customers, and area students, packaged more than 45,000 non-perishable meals.
“We’re so thankful for all the dedicated volunteers who came out to help package these meals,” said Erin Mike, co-owner of the Tustin Dream Dinners. “We were overwhelmed by the involvement and support we received from our customers, friends, and the Tustin community. It’s truly humbling to know that we’re making a measurable impact on our community and communities abroad by assembling these meals. We hope this initiative will help our neighbors who may be struggling financially or going through difficult times in their lives.”
Scientifically designed to reverse the effects of malnutrition and starvation, the packaged meals include rice, dehydrated vegetables, vitamins and proteins. One third of the meals were delivered to a local rescue mission, and another third went to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas. The last third went to Haiti in support of FFCC’s efforts to provide relief to Haitians experiencing extreme poverty.
