SAN MATEO, CA – The Dream Dinners Belmont store and the Dream Dinners Foundation recently hosted their second Fight Against Hunger event at Hillsdale High School in San Mateo. About 250 volunteers packed more than 50,000 non-perishable meals for food-insecure families in San Mateo and beyond.
The meals were distributed to the Samaritan House in San Mateo, and to Haiti, which has been hit hard the past several years by natural disasters.
Dream Dinners Belmont, the Dream Dinners Foundation and the Hillsdale High School Middle Eastern Club are already looking to next year and hope to double their efforts by packaging 100,000 meals.
“We were ecstatic about the turnout for our second Fight Against Hunger event,” said Jenn Robinson, owner of the Belmont Dream Dinners. “We enjoyed seeing the community come together for this wonderful event, and seeing so many young people engage in the effort. We look forward to partnering with our sponsors and our community to make the next event even more successful.”
Sponsors of the Belmont Fight Against Hunger include Calpico Inc., Gordon Rees San Francisco, Transfiguration Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
