RESEDA, CA – The Granada Hills Dream Dinners store and the Dream Dinners Foundation met and exceeded their meal packaging goal with the help of 350 volunteers during their first Fight Against Hunger event. Held at the Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind in Reseda, volunteers of all ages spent a recent Saturday morning packaging more than 50,000 non-perishable meals for food-insecure families in the San Fernando Valley and abroad.
“We were ecstatic about the turnout for our first Fight Against Hunger event,” said Romy Lampert, owner of the Granada Hills Dream Dinners. “We look forward to partnering with our sponsors and our community to make the next event even more successful.”
More than 16,500 meals will go to the Valley Interfaith Council, which provides critical social services such as nutritious hot meals, and a host of health and wellness activities, all designed to raise older adults’ quality of life and overall well-being and Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, which helps individuals in need transition into housing and break the cycle of generational poverty. The remaining meals will go to Haiti, a country hit hard by natural disasters over the past decade. Specifically designed to help reverse the effects of malnutrition, the meals include rice, protein, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables to provide maximum nutritional value.
Sponsors of the Valley’s first Fight Against Hunger event were Pinnacle Estate Properties; Joyce White Family; Bethlehem Lutheran Church & School; The Drain Company; Kiwanis of Northridge; Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind; The Silver Family: Vanessa, Alexander & Mike; Dependable Lift; Sysco and Colleen King Insurance Agency
